  • Arnold Magnetic Technologies Invited to Speak to Congress about Rare Earth Issues

    Rochester, NY, September 19, 2011 - The House Committee on Foreign Affairs, Subcommittee on Asia and the Pacific has asked Rob Strahs, Vice President and General Manager of Arnold Magnetic Technologies (Arnold) to speak about issues involving the supply of rare earth materials from China and its impact on their use in rare earth magnets and magnetic assemblies used in many U.S. aerospace, defense and energy applications. The hearing entitled “Confronting China’s Rare Earths Monopoly: Implications for U.S. Foreign Policy” is scheduled for Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at 1:00 EST and will be chaired by U.S. Representative Donald A. Manzullo (R-IL).

  • LLNL and Arnold Collaborate on Passive Magnetic Bearing System

    May 26, 2010, Rochester, NY – Arnold Magnetic Technologies Corporation ("Arnold") and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory ("LLNL") have signed a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement to begin work on a passive magnetic bearing system for bulk storage flywheel energy storage systems. This collaboration combines research and analysis performed by LLNL with Arnold’s more than 70 years of industry experience and expertise in design and manufacturing of high performance magnets and precision magnetic assemblies.

  • Molycorp and Arnold Announce Joint Venture

    July 13, 2009:  Greenwood Village, Colorado and Rochester, New York – Molycorp Minerals, LLC (“Molycorp”) and Arnold Magnetic Technologies Corporation (“Arnold”) announced today that they have signed a Letter of Intent to form a Joint Venture for the production of Rare Earth magnets in the United States. Details of the proposed Joint Venture were not disclosed.
