Walt graduated from Penn State University in 1961-62 with B.S. and M.S. Degrees in Ceramic Engineering. He began his career with RCA as a Development Engineer and then returned to school to earn an M.B.A. from the University of Pittsburgh in 1965. For the next ten years, Walt was with the Carborundum Company in assignments including Sales Engineer, Market Research Manager and Manager, New Product Development. In 1974 he joined the General Electric Company as Manager, Strategic Planning and was later promoted to Marketing Manager (General Purpose Motors) and General Management (Engineering and Apparatus Services). In 1984, Walt joined the Copperweld Corporation as Group Vice President, Bimetallic Products.
In 1989, Walt was appointed President, Arnold Engineering, a $50 million company headquartered in Marengo, Illinois. By 2000, Arnold Engineering grew to become a highly profitable worldwide enterprise called Arnold with sales of $140 million. During that period, Arnold made numerous product line dispositions and strategic acquisitions. Arnold's product scope now covers a broad range of permanent magnet and soft magnetic materials, components and value-added assemblies. Arnold was one of the first companies in the Magnetics Industry to form Chinese strategic alliances and establish its own manufacturing operations in mainland China. Walt was active in the Magnetic Materials Producers Association (MMPA), acting as its President from 1994-1997.

As metal producers have reduced or eliminated their technical staffs and universities have directed their research programs away from traditional special purpose metallic alloys, there are fewer and fewer sources of technical support available to the users of these alloys. In my own long experience in this field, the public technical literature is woefully out of date, far too theoretical and of little real value to users of these materials who need practical guidance on how to select, fabricate and heat treat these alloys. This is where this consultancy can help.
The goal of this company is to provide reliable, effective technical support to a select group of clients. Client confidentiality is key to me. I will not undertake any client or project where I am not sure that I can meet or exceed your expectations.
