AUGUST 2008 IEEE Magnetics Society Summer School 3-Aug-2008 - 8-Aug-2008 University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, Colorado USA The first annual IEEE Magnetics Society Summer School will be held on the campus of the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs Aug. 3 - 8, 2008. The school is designed for graduate students studying magnetism and related areas. It will consist of lectures by international experts and will include poster presentations by participating graduate students. The program will cover fundamentals, nanomagnetism, theory and modeling, magnetotransport, magnetic recording, future recording concepts, spin dynamics, ultrafast switching, and advanced characterization. This 3 year, 2.4M project involved 16 partners from the UK Magnetics Industry to develop improved magnetic materials, processing technologies, measurement facilities and computer modelling capability for electric machines. The project focused on technologies to realise a clear demand for more efficient power systems, coming particularly from the aerospace and automotive industries.
